Duke freshman big man Dereck Lively made his impact on defense, but he has a long ways to go offensively. He'll try and learn those skills at the NBA level. Some believe he should follow the same path as Mark Williams and just solidify his game with another year of college, but I don't think that has ever been the plan. Probably should be though in the NIL era.
Duke apparently has also reached out to Virginia center Kadin Shedrick now, but they are in a bit of scholarship crunch and would need two more players to leave in order to bring in someone from the portal by math. If Kyle Filipowski goes pro, that is one, but if Filipowski remains at Duke, then someone will need to transfer. Ryan Young and Christian Reeves are the two centers for sure coming back.
