• Thus far since the end of the 2019 season, seven players have left the team. Quarterback Matthew McKay (Montana State), linebacker Brock Miller (Boise State) and defensive back De’Von Graves (Northern Arizona) have already announced their transfer destinations. Miller would have been a fifth-year senior, and McKay (redshirt) and Graves juniors for the upcoming season.

Cornerback Nick McCloud and defensive ends Joseph Boletepeli and Jeffrey Gunter are in the transfer portal. Offensive lineman Kollin Byers appears to have retired from football. McCloud would have been a fifth-year senior and Boletepeli a redshirt sophomore, while the other two were going to be redshirt juniors.

• From the end of the 2018 season to the conclusion of the 2019 campaign, 13 players left the team — starting with receivers Kelvin Harmon and Jakobi Meyers turning pro. Both would have been seniors in 2019 (Meyers a fifth-year senior).

Offensive tackle Phillip Walton, nickel Freddie Phillips Jr. and cornerback Vernon Grier all left as graduate transfers. All also would have been fifth-year seniors. Walton was signed by Charlotte but was not on its roster this fall, and Grier went to South Carolina State. There was no word on Phillips

Defensive tackle Davontae McCrae, who would have been a redshirt freshman, was dismissed, and defensive end Joe Babros, who would have been a redshirt junior, entered the transfer portal. McCrae went to a junior college and was once committed to Mississippi State before signing with North Texas. Babros picked Montana as his new destination.

Tight end Adam Boselli, who would have been a redshirt sophomore, left the team in the spring. Although unconfirmed he is believed to have taken a medical hardship.

At the end of the summer, offensive tackle Jalynn Strickland also took a medical hardship entering what would have been his redshirt freshman season. Redshirt junior offensive tackle Kendall Brown became academically ineligible as well.

Early in fall camp, senior safety Tim Kidd-Glass decided to transfer to Liberty. During the season, defensive end Xavier Lyas (Northern Arizona) and punter Mackenzie Morgan (Weber State) announced they were transferring. Both were redshirt sophomores last fall.

For comparison, between the end of the 2017 season and the end of the 2018 campaign, 15 players left the program.
