While the second session last night was not as successful as hoped we still have eight out of nine still wrestling and we are tied for fourth place.
Today was always going to be the big day as the field is reduced in the consolation bracket to determine who makes All American and receives tournament placement points. Last night the 16 losers of the Championship first round matches wrestled in the first round of the consolation bracket . This reduced the field to 8 from the first round of the consolation bracket who will now face the 8 losers from 2nd round of the championship round. We have six wrestlers in this round ( 2nd round of the consolation bracket). They can score points and still pursue making AA, however it is harder to do so then if they won their second round match to make the quarterfinal of 8 in the Championship bracket.
The second round of the consolation bracket to reduce the field to eight wrestlers, then they will wrestle one more round ( third round) to reduce the field in the consolation bracket to 4 wrestlers left.
Then the four wrestles left will be joined by the losers of the quarterfinals match from the Championship round in what is referred to as the blood round. The winners of quarterfinal matches automatically are All American. If you win in the the blood round tonight , you also make All American and then can score placement points. You will also be wrestling tomorrow to sort 3-8 placements for each weight class
