NCSU commit Hayden Hidlay won the Junior National Greco-Roman national championship in Fargo earlier this week. He beat the No. 2-ranked 160-pounder and one of the nation's top 10 recruits regardless of weight class, Mason Manville (who is heading to Penn State), in the finals at 152. It was a 92-man bracket and Fargo is THE tournament in prep wrestling.
Hidlay was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament and is wrestling in the freestyle competition now. Before the greco finals, he tech falled or pinned all six opponents.
He is now 78-1 this spring/summer (since the HS season ended). This is a huge, huge victory.
