Arizona State senior guard D.J. Horne has entered the portal and is looking for school No. 3. He signed with Illinois State, and by his sophomore year, he was averaging 15.1 points and 2.7 assists per game in 2020-21, while playing with NC State center Dusan Mahorcic.

He made the move to Arizona State, where he would have played under assistant coach Joel Justus last year. He averaged 12.5 points per game both years. He shot 36.9 percent from the field and 35.5 percent from three-point land this season, with 203 of his 398 shots coming from beyond the arc.

His strengths and weaknesses are well defined, and he’s been remarkably consistent. In a perfect world, he’s the third guard off the bench who provides a spark. Something that NC State didn’t have this past season.

He’s from Raleigh, and he graduated from Fayetteville Trinity Christian in the class of 2019. Before that, he played at Cary High and Garner Road traveling team.

He just had 20 points and went 4 of 5 on 3-pointers in the win over Nevada, and he had 17 points and went 4 of 5 on 3-pointers in the loss against TCU in the NCAA Tournament.

Will be the easiest decision the staff will ever have to make in terms of knowing if he can help the program or not.
