As 10fishlimit said, they were giving him plays in the second half where he had a flat pass option off of a clear out by a deeper receiver that allowed him to focus on a single side of the field without having to scan the entire field. To his credit, on both the big catch by Rogers (Joly was the flat option), and the big play by Joly (the RB, I think Raphael, was the flat option), he went to the deeper receiver. Joly was obviously wide open because they blitzed, but the kid had balls to stand in there on that and deliver the ball and had the same to zip that ball to Rogers rather than settle for the easy throw to Joly.
What everyone should think about is why is it that McCall was having trouble finding open receivers down field when Bailey was able to find them down the field? Was it because suddenly they were open in the second half but not in the first? Or does it reflect hesitation by McCall to let it go?
I would also point to the play where McCall threw the ball to the corner of the end zone toward Rogers, I believe before the 2nd FG. By the time he released that ball, it was far too late to do so. There was no chance the players would still be in the field of play. At the time, it just made me think, huh? Not something you would expect from a 5th-year prolific QB.
