This will be interesting and some have linked Dave Doeren to the Northwestern job due to his midwest background and being at Northern Illinois. It's still a tough job, but Pat Fitzgerald and the original architect Gary Barnett have proven it is possible to win there. But due to the academics and not really having a recruiting base, it's tougher than most, similar to Duke. Fitzgerald has gone to nine bowl games and won 10 games three times. Barnett went to two bowl games in seven years, including a 10-win season and Rose Bowl berth in 1995. Pre-Barnett, it was brutal, even with future NFL coach Dennis Green.

The practice facility they just built is quite stunning on Lake Michigan.
