The competition is tough with Villanova, Baylor and UNC, so Michigan State junior point guard Tre Holloman could end up not making it to Raleigh. However, that wouldn't be a bad thing. He really struggled with his offense this season in splitting point guard duties with Jeremy Fears. What he is good at is playing defense — he was a standout prep football player in Minneapolis — and got touted for his leadership/intangibles. However, he went 0 of 10 vs. Auburn for zero points in their Elite Eight game.

Holloman averaged 9.1 points and 3.7 assists, which are good numbers for 23.1 minutes a contest, but he shot 37.3 percent from the field and 32.9 percent on three-pointers. He torched Bryant in the first round, but then still went a collective 11 of 38 from the field in the four NCAA Tournament games.

He had big hype at a young age and played up in age groups. I saw him before the start of his ninth grade year. He then fell off in the middle of his prep career, and then found himself toward the end.

Holloman had 19 points against UNC, so that might be why the Tar Heels like him. Baylor has long had a connection to Minneapolis/St. Paul. Villanova has a devastated roster.
