Sorry to post this on a football board on a Saturday. The Trump tax bill made contributions to the Wolfpack Club no longer deductible because of it including a "benefit." I give fairly generously and returned my tickets as a donation to "preserve the pack." I contacted the Wolfpack Club to ask if for this year, because there no immediate benefit, if I could deduct both the annual donation and the tickets. The reply said that the WPC CFO "thought so," but for me to contact my accountant. My accountant believes, absent a letter from the WPC stating I received no benefit, the gifts are not deductible. Yes, I know that the gifts count toward priority in future years, but if there is no benefit for THIS year, could they be deductible? So far the WPC has not responded to my request for a letter.

Any wisdom?

Thanks!
