Here is a list of the top 15 prospects on NC State’s recruiting board in order of our opinion of the likelihood that NC State will land the recruit.

It does not reflect the opinion of NC State’s football staff and is for discussion purposes only.

1. Two-star defensive lineman Derrick Eason, Norfolk (Va.) Norview High
The story this week from Matthew Hatfield of the Rivals network was the confirmation we needed that NC State has emerged at Eason’s leader over Virginia Tech and Maryland. The next question is what kind of timeline is Eason working on for a commitment.
Last week: 2
Prediction: NC State

2. Three-star linebacker Braelen Oliver, Douglasville (Ga.) Douglas County High
Oliver confirmed this week he is taking visits to West Virginia on July 22 and Minnesota a week later. That would leave a trip to Iowa State on the docket before he is ready to make a decision. He has already been to NC State and Indiana. Admittedly there is some nervousness about our projection with Oliver taking this many visits after NCSU was first on the slate of trips.
Last week: 1
Prediction: NC State

3. Three-star defensive end Alim McNeill, Raleigh (N.C.) Sanderson High
There seems to be even a little more belief coming out into the open now that NC State is the team to beat for McNeill. As we have said before, everything we hear leads us to believe the sooner McNeill decides perhaps the better for the Wolfpack.
Last week: 3
Prediction: NC State

4. Four-star linebacker Eriq Gilyard, Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity International
Gilyard may be gearing up to take a trip to Kentucky in July. He has been to NC State with his family, and Central Florida is his other finalist. This is a high school (and area) where we think offensive line coach Dwayne Ledford has good relations. Gilyard will decide Oct. 1.
Last week: 4
Prediction: NC State

5. Four-star offensive lineman Jovaughn Gwyn, Charlotte (N.C.) Harding High
Nothing really new with Gwyn other than a little tidbit that perhaps Gwyn will take some more visits in July to some out of state schools that have not been previously mentioned among his top programs. That said, it is still believed to be tight between NC State and South Carolina for his services.
Last week: 5
Prediction: NC State/South Carolina

6. Four-star defensive tackle Jordan Davis, Charlotte (N.C.) Mallard Creek High
Davis’ recent visit to NC State can only be construed as a positive sign for the Wolfpack given that Davis is not one to indulge into the recruiting process much. That said, we would be surprised if Davis did anything until probably December. He could be one of the last names we are following on the board.
Last week: 6
Prediction: NC State/UNC

7. Three-star defensive end Joseph Boletepeli, Raleigh (N.C.) Heritage High
The word is Boletepeli is itching to get the recruiting process behind him before his senior season begins, so he could make an announcement in the next month or so. We think his top five are NC State, UNC, Wake Forest, Louisville and Maryland, but we believe the in-state schools have the leg up.
Last week: 7
Prediction: NC State/Wake Forest/UNC

8. Three-star linebacker Keshon Artis, Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith High

We have shifted our thoughts a little on Artis, as we now believe that perhaps the top two schools could be in fact NC State and Virginia Tech with Maryland the wildcard.
Last week: 8
Prediction: NC State/Virginia Tech/Maryland (previously Maryland)

9. Three-star cornerback Kendall Williamson, Snellville (Ga.) Brookwood High
We understand that Williamson, who could play corner, safety or nickel in the secondary, remains on NC State’s board even though the Pack has met its quota of defensive backs. He will be making his second visit to Raleigh on July 15 (Saturday). As we have previously noted, academics is a significant factor in his recruitment. Wake Forest, Georgia Tech and Vanderbilt are his other finalists. The fact though he is returning to Raleigh is a big development. He could jump on this list if all goes well.
Last week: Unrated
Prediction: NC State/Georgia Tech/Vanderbilt/Wake Forest

10. Three-star linebacker Calvin Hart, Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage
As we noted last week, it’s difficult to decipher where to place Hart on this list after he visited NC State in June. The Pack would seem to be strongly in the mix based on his offer list that also includes Iowa, Iowa State, Mississippi State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse, Texas A&M and Wisconsin. What we don’t know is did Hart take any other visits or have anything else lined up?
Last week: 9
Prediction: Unknown
