Help me welcome a new partner of TheWolfpacker.com, Adam Goldman, owner of FranchiseCoach.net.

NC State first popped onto Adam’s radar when Jimmy V led the Cardiac Pack on its Cinderella run through the 1983 NCAA Tournament and he’s kept a close eye on the Wolfpack ever since.

In 2010, Adam engaged a franchise coach to explore a few options out of the 4,000 brands in 75 industries. He chose an office cleaning concept which he was able to build to 400 buildings cleaned in the Houston area and 40 franchisees. Adam recently sold the business to a strategic buyer.

For the past four years, Adam has helped prospective franchisees navigate the complex world of franchising. His FREE SERVICE helps them narrow their focus down to the three brands that best match them. His process saves his clients time by broadening their focus to include brands that they originally weren't considering but match them best.

"My Dad came home from his corporate job drained daily and he would have really benefited as a franchisee,” Adam said. "He has great management and people skills, he just needed a simplified process around him to become an entrepreneur. I get excited every day helping prospective business owners escape Corporate America and to follow their dreams by becoming franchisees.”

Contact Adam and put your life and career in your own hands.

Let’s jump right into the transfer portal:

• Obviously the top question is will anyone more leave? Most of the focus has been on freshman guard Shakeel Moore. We have to acknowledge that the conventional wisdom on Moore’s future seems to have shifted from 50-50 on those odds to perhaps leaning more likely that he will leave, with one source saying Wednesday that Moore was as good as gone.

That said, the clock has been ticking. And as one astute observer recently noted, NC State’s later ending to its season compared to other teams means that its players have watched the mass exodus across the country into the portal. Could that potentially dissuade some potential transfers in what would be an oversaturated market?

• The news that freshman forward Nick Farrar was entering the portal was a development that came together since the end of the season. Farrar’s original inclination, we were told late in the year, was to return next year and give it a chance to prove himself when down to around 230 pounds. Farrar, partially because of an offseason knee injury, arrived at NC State heavier than desired, checking in at over 260 pounds, according to our sources. He had lost about half the weight he needed to get to his desired weight during the year.

That leads us to believe that Farrar’s decision stems from end-of-season meetings that usually take place between head coaches and players, which led Farrar to believe his best opportunity would be elsewhere.

• Do not be surprised (or alarmed) if redshirt sophomore center Manny Bates enters his name into the NBA Draft and goes through the process. It remains a no-harm-done proposition for college basketball players.

In terms of who could be coming in:

• Most eyes remain on Hampton wing Davion Warren, a 6-foot-6 native of Buffalo, N.Y. Warren averaged 21.2 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game last year. He only shot 30.2 percent on threes last season, but the year before was at a more respectable 37.0 percent and there were eight contests this season where Warren made at least a trio of three-pointers in a game.

Alabama, Arkansas, Memphis and Texas A&M were some of the other teams in the mix with Warren, but Arkansas also just landed a pledge from Pitt transfer Au’Diese Toney.

• NC State continues to be in touch with Phlandrous Fleming Jr. from Charleston Southern. The 6-foot-4 Athens, Ga., native averaged 20.1 points and 7.4 rebounds per game last year while shooting 32.0 percent on threes and an impressive 80.6 percent at the free throw line.

Fleming is also a two-time Big South Defensive Player of the Year winner.

Texas A&M was an early, aggressive pursuer of Fleming, and he is known to have an affinity for a chance to potentially play in his hometown at Georgia.

• The Wolfpack obviously held a Zoom meeting with Florida transfer Noah Locke, but we have picked up a sense that Louisville may be a team to beat here. Cardinals coach Chris Mack had Xavier as a contender for Locke coming out of high school, and Locke fits a huge need (shooting) for Mack’s current program.

Connecticut is probably the other team we hear most with Locke along with Maryland and NC State.

If we had to put odds on those three players, the order we listed them is the order we could currently see them coming to NC State, with it being fairly close between Warren and Fleming.

• NC State obviously made a strong move on ECU forward Jayden Gardner before it landed Providence’s Greg Gantt. It should be noted that according to our sources Virginia was also making a strong push with Gardner, to the point where the early edge NC State seemed to enjoy was now a tight race with the Cavs.

Numbers-wise it might be hard to get both Gantt and Gardner. We do have one trusted source tell us that Gantt was probably a better fit, if he can reach his upside, than Gardner (one source’s opinion, obviously).

For those who have an interest/care, we can say that the expectation among some in Raleigh is that UNC is likely to end up promoting long-time assistant and former player Hubert Davis to replace Roy Williams.
