Help me welcome a new partner of TheWolfpacker.com, Adam Goldman, owner of FranchiseCoach.net.

NC State first popped onto Adam’s radar when Jimmy V led the Cardiac Pack on its Cinderella run through the 1983 NCAA Tournament and he’s kept a close eye on the Wolfpack ever since.

In 2010, Adam engaged a franchise coach to explore a few options out of the 4,000 brands in 75 industries. He chose an office cleaning concept which he was able to build to 400 buildings cleaned in the Houston area and 40 franchisees. Adam recently sold the business to a strategic buyer.

For the past four years, Adam has helped prospective franchisees navigate the complex world of franchising. His FREE SERVICE helps them narrow their focus down to the three brands that best match them. His process saves his clients time by broadening their focus to include brands that they originally weren't considering but match them best.

"My Dad came home from his corporate job drained daily and he would have really benefited as a franchisee,” Adam said. "He has great management and people skills, he just needed a simplified process around him to become an entrepreneur. I get excited every day helping prospective business owners escape Corporate America and to follow their dreams by becoming franchisees.”

This Sunday, the field of 68 will be announced for the NCAA Tournament. Obviously, NC State will not be among those teams on the brackets.

Later that evening, the NIT will announce its field. Here’s where things could get interesting for NC State. However, we can say that the vibe from sources we have talked it over with suggest that the original inclinations among NC State were not favorable towards participating.

Things can change, however, as more information becomes available, so that’s our caveat, but going into the weekend we would put money on the likelihood that Wednesday afternoon's ACC Tournament loss to Syracuse will be the final game of the season.

The factors that have to be taken into consideration have been well-discussed: financial implications and the motivation to spend up to 10 days in a bubble for the NIT. Hence why head coach Kevin Keatts was explaining Wednesday that he needed more information.

If it is so that the season is over, then the attention fully turns to two matters: roster management and the looming Dennis Smith Jr. case with the NCAA.

We don’t have a lot of information on the latter, but local radio host Joe Giglio, who is more well-plugged on the matter, seems to think that a decision could come down the pipe late-spring or over the summer.

For a refresher, the original NCAA report seemed more positive than negative in the big picture for NC State, but the back-and-forth response to the notice of allegations painted a more ominous outlook for the looming sanctions if found guilty of the charges.

In terms of the roster, there are going to be moving pieces. NC State still has a scholarship to work with in the 2021 class, and the full expectation is that it will be used on a transfer. Whereas the popular opinion in the fall and early winter was that it would be used on another big man, that has now shifted to another guard/wing.

Although FIU guard and Durham native Antonio Daye is reporting an offer from the Wolfpack, we have heard conflicting info on how serious a target he is for the Wolfpack. From what we have been led to believe, two priorities are focused on more length and shooting on the perimeter, and Daye does not exactly check those boxes.

We think the interest in Auburn’s Jerome Powell and The Citadel’s Kaiden Rice might be more aligned with what we hear NC State is seeking in the transfer portal, but both are likely to be in high demand during the silly season.

There are also questions over whether or not there will be any departures from the Wolfpack basketball team. We would be lying if we said there were not rumors throughout the season about potential Wolfpack players looking to transfer, although most of those have cooled considerably over the past couple of weeks.

That said, there is a wide expectation that the NCAA is going to grant a transfer sit-out waiver, further enticing players to look into the portal. Our general experience is that most rumored potential transfers tend to fade, although that is not always the case. One prominent recent example of a rumor that proved true, surprising probably a lot of fans, was the Martin twins of Caleb and Cody.

Rumors were that the two were looking to transfer mainly over Cody’s relative lack of playing time despite a generally prominent role on the team, and it actually came to fruition. Keatts has done fairly well at maintaining roster stability and decreasing some of the turnover problems that plagued the Mark Gottfried tenure.
