It is plain and simple, more than 25 years ago Burgess MacSwain and Debbie hatched a plan to give basketball players unearned grades to maintain their grade levels sufficient to remain eligible to play. Eventually this leaked over to football and to cover the scam some frat boys and other in the know students were begrudgingly included in the scheme . This went on for years until the fake courses were uncovered by a guilt ridden academic support person and a sharp news reporter who blew the lid off the scheme.
Because the school refused to admit to the NCAA , who depends on the integrity of the school , that the courses were phony and that the inclusion of non athletes was part of an evolving scam ; the perps walked and live to cheat another day.
