NC State has verbal commitments from:
Tight end Dylan Autenrieth, Dallas (Ga.) North Paulding High
Offensive lineman Kollin Byers, Shelby (N.C.) Crest High
Athlete Bryce Dixon, Cary (N.C.) Green Hope High
Offensive lineman Bryce Folsom, Alpharetta (Ga.) Chattahoochee High
Guard/center Harrison Gee, Burlington (N.C.) Williams High
Safety Tim Glass, Danville (Va.) Lynchburg Liberty Christian Academy
Linebacker Garrett Hooker, Thomasville (N.C.) Ledford High
Linebacker Brock Miller, Ft. Pierce (Fla.) John Carroll High
Quarterback Dylan Parham, Southeast Raleigh High
Guard/center Joe Sculthorpe, Hampstead (N.C.) Topsail High
Wide receiver Daeshawn Stephens, Durham (N.C.) Hillside High
Cornerback James Valdez, Orangeburg (S.C.) Wilkinson High
Offensive lineman Justin Witt, New Lenox (Ill.) Lincoln-Way West High
Here is a list of the top 20 prospects on NC State’s recruiting board in order of our opinion of the likelihood that NC State will land the recruit.
It does not reflect the opinion of NC State’s football staff and is for discussion purposes only.
1. Cornerback Carlos Becker, Kissimmee (Fla.) Osceola High
Becker has come out with a top two of NC State and Kentucky recently. One has an official visit set up, one does not. He will be in Raleigh Oct. 31 for the Clemson game. That would be Becker’s third trip to NC State.
Previous ranking: 2
Prediction: NC State
2. Wide receiver Chavis Dawkins, Duncan (S.C.) Byrnes High
We have noted repeatedly that the vibe was Dawkins was going to wait until the fall to sort out if any potential offers will come. NC State still recruiting Dawkins, but he could lose a spot if he waits too long.
Previous ranking: 1
Prediction: NC State
3. Wide receiver Myles Dorn, Charlotte Vance High
Some UNC insiders believe that the Heels have made up ground with Dorn, but they would need to make up a lot based on what we heard over the summer. NC State and Wake Forest are also heavily in the mix. We still think NCSU sits in a good spot.
Previous ranking: 3
Prediction: NC State
4. Athlete Brett Shepherd, Buford (Ga.) High
Based on the confirmation we got this week that another tight end in the 2016 class is preferred, we feel good about keeping Shepherd high on the list. Pack is real high on Shepherd for multiple reasons.
Previous ranking: 4
Prediction: NC State
5. Defensive end Christian Brooks, Centreville (Va.) Clifton High
The long, rangy Brooks is raw but developing nicely. NC State is in Brooks’ top four, but realistically we think this is a Pittsburgh-NC State battle at the moment. Pitt has the head start, but we are going out on a limb and projecting him to the Pack.
Previous ranking: Unrated
Prediction: NC State
6. Safety Isaiah Stallings, Fayetteville (N.C.) Terry Sanford High
We noted last week Stallings offered a big hint into his recruitment with a top three of Duke, NC State and South Carolina. If it was not for his teammate, corner Mark Gilbert, we are not sure Duke would be on that list. Thus we think this could be a NC State-South Carolina battle unless Clemson gets more heavily involved.
Previous ranking: 5
Prediction: NC State
7. Defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, Wake Forest (N.C.) High
Sure does seem like UNC has emerged as NC State’s chief challenger, but a visit to Clemson this weekend could alter things somewhat. NC State has been the most consistent team throughout Lawrence’s recruitment, and we think they remain in a solid position. A long ways to go however in his recruitment.
Previous ranking: 6
Prediction: NC State
8. Wide receiver Devontres Dukes, Tampa (Fla.) Wharton High
We first reported last week on Dukes lining up an NC State official visit for Halloween weekend and the Clemson game. He’s committed to Central Florida, but the Pack can make a move here.
Previous ranking: 8
Prediction: Central Florida (for now)
9. Wide receiver Andrew Parchment, Weston (Fla.) Cypress Bay High
We flip-flopped Dukes and Parchment based on Dukes having lined up an official visit to NC State. Parchment could have also done that, but we are not yet aware of it. He is committed to Cincinnati
Previous ranking: 7
Prediction: Cincinnati (for now)
10. Wide receiver C.J. Riley, Coconut Creek (Fla.) North Broward High
Riley had hinted to Rivals.com that a decision could come before the season starts, but no word of an impending announcement. Riley has a top three of Duke, NC State and Nebraska and has visited NC State twice.
Previous ranking: 9
Prediction: Nebraska
Tight end Dylan Autenrieth, Dallas (Ga.) North Paulding High
