NC State has verbal commitments from:
Tight end Dylan Autenrieth, Dallas (Ga.) North Paulding High
Athlete Bryce Dixon, Cary (N.C.) Green Hope High
Offensive lineman Bryce Folsom, Alpharetta (Ga.) Chattahoochee High
Guard/center Harrison Gee, Burlington (N.C.) Williams High
Safety Tim Glass, Danville (Va.) Lynchburg Liberty Christian Academy
Linebacker Garrett Hooker, Thomasville (N.C.) Ledford High
Quarterback Dylan Parham, Southeast Raleigh High
Guard/center Joe Sculthorpe, Hampstead (N.C.) Topsail High
Cornerback James Valdez, Orangeburg (S.C.) Wilkinson High
Offensive lineman Justin Witt, New Lenox (Ill.) Lincoln-Way West High
Here is a list of the top 25 prospects on NC State’s recruiting board in order of our opinion of the likelihood that NC State will land the recruit.
It does not reflect the opinion of NC State’s football staff and is for discussion purposes only.
1. Wide receiver Myles Dorn, Charlotte Vance High
Dorn is a considered a “possible” to visit Friday night for the Wolfpack Warrior camp. Word is that NC State continues to feel very good about their chances. We think Wake Forest might be the top challenger at the moment.
Previous ranking: 1
Prediction: NC State
2. Wide receiver Chavis Dawkins, Duncan (S.C.) Byrnes High
Dawkins confirmed to Rivals.com last week that NC State is recruiting him the hardest among his major offers (Louisville and Wake Forest). The only hang-up on Dawkins is that he continues to give off vibes he will wait until fall to see who else may be interested.
Previous ranking: 3
Prediction: NC State
3. Cornerback Carlos Becker, Kissimmee (Fla.) Osceola High
NC State’s good friend on the recruiting trail Kentucky has been one of the top challengers for Becker. Michigan State could prove to be a wildcard along with Florida, especially if the Gators amp up their pursuit.
Previous ranking: 2
Prediction: NC State
4. Safety Isaiah Stallings, Fayetteville (N.C.) Terry Sanford High
Stallings revealed very little in multiple interviews at the Shrine Bowl Invite-Only Camp last Friday at Randleman (N.C.) High, but a source did reveal that Stallings’ top two is NC State and Clemson. If accurate that’s a good sign for the Pack because it does not sound like the Tigers are taking safeties at this point in their class.
Previous ranking: 5
Prediction: NC State
5. Defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, Wake Forest (N.C.) High
Growing vibes last week that Clemson may not be as strong a challenger as we first thought continued Friday with chatter around the Shrine Bowl camp. We’ll see if Lawrence shows up in Raleigh Friday night for the Wolfpack Warrior camp.
Previous ranking: 6
Prediction: NC State
6. Wide receiver C.J. Riley, Coconut Creek (Fla.) North Broward High
We are still listing NC State for our projection, but admittedly it’s a low-confidence pick. Riley’s visits last week to NCSU, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Kentucky and Nebraska indicates what could be Riley’s top five. We came close to projecting him to Nebraska but are sticking with the Pack for now.
Previous ranking: 4
Prediction: NC State
7. Linebacker Brock Miller, Fort Pierce (Fla.) John Carroll High
Miller made his second visit to NC State. The trip that should worry the Pack is Saturday to Virginia Tech. There is a growing feeling that VT may be the team to beat.
Previous ranking: 9
Prediction: Virginia Tech (previously unknown)
8. Wide receiver Kelvin Harmon, Palmyra (N.J.) High
Harmon is visiting clear leader South Carolina for their big recruiting event, but he also seems, at least for now, set on an October decision. Pack’s best hope is to get Harmon in for an official visit in September and that Harmon takes notice of all the Steve Spurrier-created speculation on his long-term future in Columbia.
Previous ranking: 11
Prediction: South Carolina
9. Wide receiver Divine Deablo, Winston-Salem (N.C.) Mt. Tabor High
We believe that NC State is running third for Deablo behind Virginia Tech and UNC, but he is supposed to be in Raleigh Friday night so the Pack has a chance to move up. We came close to switching our projection back to UNC based on vibes at Randleman.
Previous ranking: 8
Prediction: Virginia Tech
10. Defensive end Patrick Jones, Chesapeake (Va.) Grassfield High
Jones has been sneaking up the top 25 lately and cracks the top 10 after revealing a top three of Virginia Tech, Duke and NC State. We did make a switch on our projection to VT, who is proving to be NCSU’s top thorn in the side this recruiting cycle.
Previous ranking: 13
Prediction: Virginia Tech (previously Duke)
11. Offensive lineman Ashton Julious, Scranton (Pa.) Lackawanna Junior College
With the Pack set to miss on Patrick Kearns (see No. 19), do they amp up their pursuit of Julious or take a look at other prep tackles?
Previous ranking: 12
Prediction: South Carolina
12. Defensive back Henry Miller, Kissimmee (Fla.) Gateway High
Miller had been listing NC State among his schools, but his visit was a first indication that there is serious mutual interest. We understand Miller has friendships with Becker and Becker's former teammate: NCSU freshman linebacker Riley Nicholson.
Previous ranking: Unranked
Prediction: Unknown
13. Linebacker Rob Snyder, Suwanee (Ga.) Collins Hill High
We are not sure, but we heard that Snyder might have or will soon be visiting NC State. He also reports offers from Iowa and Virginia.
Previous ranking: 16
Prediction: Unknown
14. Athlete Brett Shepherd, Buford (Ga.) High
NC State wanted two tight ends and they got it in the 2015 class, but Shepherd is a talented athlete who could play both sides of the ball. We get a sense that NCSU likes Shepherd enough to continue recruiting him.
Previous ranking: 14
Prediction: Unknown
15. Wide receiver Diondre Overton, Greensboro (N.C.) Page High
The good news is that Overton appears willing to wait in the fall, which gives the Pack time to catch up on leaders Clemson and Tennessee.
Previous ranking: 15
Prediction: Clemson
Tight end Dylan Autenrieth, Dallas (Ga.) North Paulding High
Athlete Bryce Dixon, Cary (N.C.) Green Hope High
