Football Some news and notes from first practice…

The drills portion of practice was open and I shot photos for about 30 minutes or so. Hopefully, I got a large number of newcomers for pics.

On the injury front, the Wolfpack look good. Nose tackle C.J. Clark was doing some things off to the side but it must be something minor since he was part of the Zoom interviews. H-back Trent Pennix was also separate from the team.

From a pure size standpoint, the Wolfpack look good. Juco corner Terrente Hinton is put together. The linebackers are an impressive group physically.

The running back room will be interesting. Kendrick Raphael was out there and looks the part. Micah Crowell, who has battled so many injuries, was out there.

Dacari Collins brings good size to the wide receivers at about 6-4.

The depth of the offensive line will be needed to develop. That might be redshirt sophomore Patrick Matan.

Doeren and players will be meeting with the media after 11 a.m.

Football Dave Doeren, coordinators press conference updates...

Dave Doeren said the quarterback position is the same as every position on the team, so there will be competition. He also said due to injuries, it’s not just about the starting job. He said that job and others could go “on for a while.”

The dynamic with the spring is that it’s about positioning a player going into fall camp, and not so much about guaranteeing a job for the season opener.

Doeren said he thinks Jordan Poole, Jayland Parker and Caden Fordham will be pushing for time at linebacker. He hopes they get a lot of reps this spring.
