Finley?

There seems to be an unspoken reality about Finley. Obviously, there is a good reason why he is not a viable option at QB. I have no idea what it is (work ethic/ academics/ apathy/ a hundred other reasons). DL is out. MJM sounds as if he is banged up. Chambers can’t complete a pass. Yet, Finley’s name is never mentioned. Does anyone “know” what the BF situation is? If so, can that info be shared? I’m simply curious. He seemed to have some ability but has become less than an afterthought. My apologies, if this has previously been covered.

Football Dave Doeren talks about how players transferring is a good thing...

This quote was in my story but wanted to make it a separate thread. NC State coach Dave Doeren said attrition is a good thing for all involved if it leads to a good career somewhere else.

I have always figured there are about 10 players a year who leave. Some aren't good fits academically and some just aren't guys who can help an ACC team. It's when you lose starters that red flags should come up. Plus, coaches want extra scholarships for portal flexibility.

“I think there is a misconception publicly when a player goes into the portal is bad,” Doeren said. “He just wants to play more and he’s buried in the depth chart where he is at. I want him to play too. I want him to have a good career and be happy.

“If I tell him he’s still going to be third [string], and he can go be first for someone else, I’ll help him. It’s not always bad.”

Recruiting Today is the last day for signing period, but...

Today is the last day of the NCAA signing period, but players can sign today, tell the school to be quiet and then announce whenever in the future.

NC State's only target left is Treymane Parker of Fayetteville, N.C., who is with Overtime Elite, ironically playing with Robert Dillingham (which might not be going swimmingly).

One never knows what Parker might do, but whether he signs today or signs in April, the Wolfpack will keep trying.

Mediocrity at NC State....

Last night's result incapsulates what the big 3 sports are and have been at NC State for the last 30 years....mediocre and happy to be so. It's a damn shame that leadership at this proud university has been so poor as to not be able to make one single hire in any of these big 3 sports to win even a single conference championship or really even have one of the programs consistently relevant. Every other power 5 school in this country has somehow been able to find a way to hire at least one person in one of the big 3 sports who could actually win a championship at some point during these last 30 years. And not only can't we accomplish that, we compound that ineptitude with some of the most embarrassing losses in aome of the most creative and self inflicted wounds ways imaginable. Speaking specifically about this football team this year, it has to be one of the most under achieving teams ever to lace them up in Raleigh when you consider the talent, experience and depth that returned from last year's team. This was the year that Dave had been pointing to for something big. Well it was big alright, one of the biggest let down seasons in school history with losses to a mediocre Syracuse team and a home loss on Senior night to a flat out bad, one of the worst teams in the ACC bad, BC team. It was an embarrassing loss for the football program and for the athletic department as a whole honestly. I think it's fair to say that no athketic program in the country has done more to "step in it" or "step on it" to their own detriment than NC State. Congratulations Dave Doeren, on yet another underachieving accomplishment during your tenure as Head Coach at NC State. You join a long and distinguished list of coaches to do so in Raleigh.
